Mike has served in a variety of executive management positions in insurance and trust related companies, with over 25 years' experience in the employee benefits field. Prior to his association with Halbert Wealth Management, Mike was president of Life Partners, Inc. in Waco, Texas, one of the nation's largest viatical settlement firms. This position lasted one year while the founder of Life Partners ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Congress. Prior to that, Mike served as President of Sterling Trust Company in Waco, Texas. Sterling Trust is a nationwide provider of self-directed trust services for IRA and qualified retirement plan clients. There, he was responsible for executive management of the company as well as new business development. During his nine years of leadership, trust assets in client accounts grew from $50 million to over $950 million. Before Sterling Trust, Mike was an assistant vice president and Tax-Sheltered Market Department manager at Texas Life Insurance Company. In this position, Mike was responsible for creating and managing a department dedicated to all types of tax-sheltered employee benefit plans, including Section 79 insurance, retired lives reserve, pension and profit sharing plans, tax-deferred annuities and Section 125 cafeteria plans. He also personally serviced a group of rural electric cooperative plans with cumulative assets of over $25 million. Mike is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Baylor University, where he earned his BBA degree. He is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI), a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), and holds Series 7 and 24 securities licenses. He has also served as president of the Retirement Industry Trust Association, a trade association for self-directed trust companies. | ||
